ARCHIVED MESSAGES
2022 Letter

Dear PHS Students, Parents/Guardians:
I would like to take a moment and welcome our new and returning students, families and staff members. I encourage all of you to take advantage of the opportunities that will be presented to you this year to create the best experience possible. Putting oneself into a position to receive positive opportunities isn’t easy and may not seem worth it in the immediate. It is important to remember, success doesn’t just happen one day conversely, neither does failure. Each is a process of taking advantage of opportunities presented. Your heart will guide you to these opportunities but your wisdom will guide you through them. Walking through the door of positive opportunity could present you with various opportunities or walking on negative paths could ultimately lead you to doors that won’t open. Every opportunity is merely preparation for the next. In other words, what are you preparing for?
In each classroom, we see a set of desks running from wall to wall. But if we focus on one desk and think about its history of students who have passed the hours through it. We can see those who thrived but we can also see those who have slept their way through allowing the opportunity to pass them by. Thomas Edison said, “We should remember that good fortune often happens when opportunity meets with preparation.” To me, that means the people who are not afraid to work hard and put themselves into a position to meet the opportunities presented will become the big achievers of the future. To be fair, nothing is ever easy and many times you will be pushed to your limits. Sometimes you will win and sometimes you will lose but it is the experience and the outcomes that will teach you the most.
In the end, what you become is the result of what you do everyday. Winston Churchill once said, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. Even Though it is hard and we may fail, what we learn from the experience will make us stronger than we ever were before.” With that in mind, I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity no matter the difficulty, and make it your mission to build a bright future.
On behalf of the faculty, staff and administration, we promise to provide you with every opportunity to help you earn an education that ensures a bright future. The question is, will you take advantage of it.
Make Today and Everyday Count!
Sincerely,
Jeff Simon
